Helpful Cooking Tips: 1. Corn starch has twice the thickening power of flour. For gravies and sauces that call for flour, you can use half as much corn starch to thicken. 2. When using corn starch to thicken hot liquids, first mix corn starch with a little cold water, stirring until smooth. Gradually stir into hot liquid; stir constantly until liquid comes to a boil; continue boiling for 1 minute.
